Supporting a child through trauma can be confusing, overwhelming and difficult. Adults play an important role in supporting a child after trauma and it is key that adults understand trauma and its impact on the developing brain.
Our team at The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre is honoured to facilitate this free, educational talk about trauma and children over a 90-minute virtual session on Thursday, September 30th at 7pm MT.
The purpose of this talk is to provide parents, caregivers and other adults who have young people in their lives with supportive strategies to reduce the impact and long-lasting effects of trauma.
Three members of The Grief and Trauma Healing team will be presenting:
1. Justine Elliot, Registered Psychologist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist Mental Health Therapist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist,
2. Heather Andrew, Registered Social Worker and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist
3. Heather Matthews, Registered Provisional Psychologist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist
The first hour of the session will address:
What trauma is and the various types of trauma
The impact of trauma on a child's physical, emotional, and mental health
How adults can support children who have experienced a traumatic event
The last half-hour of the session will be a Q&A. This will give you the opportunity to ask our team any questions about how to address specific circumstances you or your child may be experiencing.
This Grief Talk will be filled with education, wisdom, compassion, and validation.
Register HERE for your free virtual ticket today! There are limited tickets available and only one virtual ticket available per person.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Justine, Heather A, Heather M and The Grief and Trauma Healing Team
