The mind-body connection suggests there is a back and forth interaction between our thoughts, feelings and body responses. Grief is multifaceted and affects us not only emotionally, but physically as well. Physical limitations such as chronic pain or physical injury can also impact our emotional wellbeing.
As grief and the body are interconnected and have a significant impact on our overall well being, our team at The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre is honoured to facilitate this free educational talk over a 90-minute virtual session on Thursday, June 24th at 7:00pm MT.
Three members of The Grief and Trauma Healing team will be presenting:
1. Gina Baretta, Mental Health Therapist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist,
2. Erin Newman, Registered Provisional Psychologist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, and
3. Morgan Jefferson, Registered Provisional Psychologist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist
The first hour of the session will address:
-Definitions of Grief
-Losses that impact the body
-Losses we grieve because of our bodies
-How grief presents in the body
-Impact of unresolved grief in the body
-Relationship loss and the association to the body
-How the nervous system contributes to grief and the body
-The importance of emotions
-Polyvagal Theory
-Window of tolerance
The last half-hour of the session will be a Q&A. This will give you the opportunity to ask our team any questions about how to address specific circumstances you are facing or may face in the future.
This Grief Talk will be filled with education, wisdom, compassion, and validation.
