Online 4-Week Helping Children Deal With Loss Program

To watch a child grieve and not know what to do is a profoundly difficult experience for caregivers. Yet, there are guidelines for helping children develop a lifelong, healthy response to loss. The Helping Children Deal With Loss Program allows for an opportunity to free children from the false sense of “not feeling bad” and to empower them with effective methods of dealing with loss. Whether your child is grieving due to a death, divorce, pet loss, loss of trust, or any other loss, you will learn a complete a set of actions that will enable you to assist your child in moving forward in their life with a heart full of hope.

Online Grief Talk: Supporting Children Through Trauma

Supporting a child through trauma can be confusing and difficult. Adults play an important role in supporting a child after trauma and it is key that adults understand trauma and its impact on the developing brain. Our team at The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre is honoured to organize this free, educational talk about trauma and children over a 90-minute virtual session on Thursday, September 30th at 7:00pm MT. The purpose of this talk is to provide parents, caregivers, and other adults who have young people in their lives with supportive strategies to reduce the impact and long-lasting effects of trauma.

The Circle of Security® Parenting Program is a self-reflective, 8-week group for parents to support understanding of attachment and strengthening their relationship with their child. Circle of Security is a visual map of attachment that supports parents in reflecting on their child’s needs to promote a stronger, more secure relationship. We are hardwired for connection, and the Circle of Security program provides a model of how to connect better with our children, even when it’s hard to connect with them.

However, more and more, our youth are experiencing higher levels of anxiousness. There are many causes for this, and the many challenges arising as a result of COVID-19 have added to this.

In this workshop, you will learn about what anxiety is, the many causes of anxiety, including those related to COVID-19, how anxiousness presents in children and adolescents, and how you can best support the children in your life using easy-to-use tools.
